The ImageZoom browser extension lets you easily enlarge or shrink images on web pages, zoom into diagrams, or view high-resolution photos without opening them separately. It is useful if a webpage shows images in a very small frame or too large for your display.
To zoom images, simply move the mouse cursor over an image and
- press and hold the right mouse button and use the mouse wheel to enlarge or shrink the image
- press and hold the right mouse button and click the left mouse button to fit the image into the window
If an image can be zoomed, the ImageZoom extension will show a border around it. A green border will appear around the image when the mouse cursor moves over it.
You can disable this border with deselecting the option
Show border around images. Access this setting with the ImageZoom icon in the browser extensions toolbar.
Important Information:
This extension disables the default context menu if the cursor is over an image, because it uses the right mouse button. The context menu (with options like "Save Image As..." or "Open Image in New Tab") would usually appear after pressing down the right mouse button. But this function is now used to enable the zoom mode.
To access the normal context menu, press and hold the
Option/Alt Key and press the
right mouse button.
The ImageZoom extension needs access to the content of the websites to zoom the images.
Make sure to give it the permission to access the webpage content after installation. The browsers usually show a popup on first access or when you click on the ImageZoom icon in the browser extensions toolbar. There you can allow the extension full website access. You can also change it manually:
- Safari: Menu -> Safari -> Settings -> Extensions -> ImageZoom Extensions -> Always Allow on Every Website
- Chrome: Menu -> Settings -> Extensions -> ImageZoom -> Details -> Site access -> Allow this extension to read and change all your data on websites you visit: On all sites
